Only sand so far

Uncategorized

Ilan and Tenzin could only see sand so far. They both squinted at the horizon around them but only saw dunes and more dunes of soft silky sand covering the place they were at now.
“I think the only creative thing we can do right now, Tenzin, is to walk,” said Ilan.
So they both walked, but they walked miles and miles and they still saw sand. They started going thirsty but they didn’t have water, so they also started dehydrating. Ilan was walking ahead and the otter behind her but the otter was suffering more than Ilan, because of course, she was an otter, and otters of course are water animals. They also lost all sense of the time that was passing, so it rather felt like eternity.
They climbed uncountable dunes and rolled down on the other side to save energy each time. When they were climbing the next one, Ilan finally said “Tenzin, give me the backpack, I can carry it myself,” whilst she turned around.
When Ilan turned around Tenzin just wasn’t there, but quite a few metres away, actually, she couldn’t see her first because she was lying on the foot of the dune.
“Tenziiiiiiiiiiiin!!!” she ran down and tripped and rolled and finally she fainted.
